All participants for the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024, set to start on the 30th of November, have been determined. With RMRs completed across all regions, the full roster of teams and players heading to China to make their mark in CS2 history is finalized.
With Falcons failing to qualify, Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, Emil “Magisk” Reif, and Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen will not be competing in Shanghai. Legendary coach Danny “zonic” Sørensen will also miss the event.
s1mple’s return to Major contention was eagerly awaited by fans and CS enthusiasts, but this is not where his comeback will unfold. However, the Ukrainian star has reassured his followers that he will keep grinding, keeping future opportunities alive.
Meanwhile, dupreeh, the all-time Major attendance record holder, will also miss his second consecutive CS2 Major. After coming up short with Preasy Esport during the PGL Copenhagen 2024 RMR, the five-time Major winner remains stuck at 19 Major appearances. Both s1mple and dupreeh are currently benched, leaving their next moves uncertain.
Danish Counter-Strike legends continue to face challenges. Nicolai “device” Reedtz and Casper “cadiaN” Møller will miss the Major after Astralis failed to qualify. Also meaning Astralis will miss their 4th Major in a row. The situation was further complicated by cadiaN’s injury shortly after joining the team.
Adding to the woes, Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander, another member of Astralis’ four-time Major-winning roster, failed to progress with ENCE, exiting at the Closed Qualifier stage for the European RMR. Of that legendary Astralis lineup, only Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth will "attend" the Shanghai Major, albeit as an assistant coach for MOUZ.

Brazilian star Marcelo “coldzera” David attempted to qualify with RED Canids in the Americas RMR but fell short. The two-time Major winner and former best player in the world will now watch from the sidelines, cheering on Brazilian teams that did secure a spot in Shanghai.
While it may feel unusual to watch a Major without legends like s1mple, device, or dupreeh, the Perfect World Shanghai Major promises excitement. Teams like G2 Esports, Natus Vincere, Vitality, and FaZe Clan have all secured their spots, along with Heroic, Team Spirit, and legendary names like Fnatic.
Fnatic's Lars Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson, in his 11th year of competing and at 30 years old, is making a return to the Major stage. New teams and players will also have the chance to earn their stickers, display their skills, and leave a mark on this prestigious event.
The three-stage Major will begin with the Opening Stage from the 30th of November to the 3rd of December. A 16-team Swiss format will be played, featuring elimination and qualification matches as Bo3 series. The top 8 teams will advance, while the rest will be eliminated.
The Elimination Stage will start two days later, with the same format. From the 12th to the 15th of December, the best 8 teams in the world will compete for the trophy in a single-elimination Bo3 bracket during the Champions Stage.
Here is the list of teams that qualified for the Elimination Stage: G2 Esports, Natus Vincere, Team Vitality, Team Spirit, MOUZ, FaZe Clan, Heroic, and 3DMAX.
Let the games begin!
