Three weeks of Dota 2. Twenty-four teams. One $2 million prize pool. And when the dust settled at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, PARIVISION were standing with the trophy and $750,000 in their pockets, having put together one of the most dominant tournament runs in recent memory.

Here is a full breakdown of how EWC 2026 played out, from the opening group stage matches to the grand final finish.

Group Stage: Four Teams Went Near-Perfect

The Group Stage ran from July 7 to 12, with 24 teams split across four groups of six, each playing a single round-robin in best-of-two format. The group winner advanced directly to the Playoffs. Second through fourth entered the Survival Stage. The bottom two were eliminated.

The headline from the group stage was the dominance at the top. Team Falcons (Group A), Nigma Galaxy (Group B), PARIVISION (Group C), and Team Yandex (Group D) all finished with identical 9-1 records, each dropping just a single map rather than a full series across the entire opening stage. Four group winners, four near-perfect runs.

PARIVISION were the standout. They went 8-0 through the first four days, sweeping Vici Gaming, MOUZ, REKONIX, and Team Nemesis before dropping a map in a 1-1 draw with defending champions Team Spirit in what turned out to be a preview of the team's ceiling. Their only concession across the entire group stage was that one map against Spirit. Mid laner Volodymyr "No[o]ne" Minenko also reached 1,500 career map wins in professional Dota 2 during the group stage run, becoming just the eighth player in history to hit that milestone.

Team Falcons made their own history in Group A, becoming the first team ever to record 500 map wins without a single roster change. They have not altered their lineup since November 2023.

In Group D, Team Yandex were equally clinical, with both wins against Inner Circle closing out in under 30 minutes. On the other end of the standings, Inner Circle became the first team at the tournament eliminated after failing to win a single map.

The Survival Stage brought a disruption before it even began. The Vici Gaming vs PlayTime series was postponed due to an integrity issue flagged by ESIC. PlayTime's DarkMago and coach Vintage were provisionally suspended. PlayTime was subsequently removed from the tournament entirely after failing to satisfy eligibility requirements to continue, with ESIC's investigation ongoing. Vici Gaming advanced without playing.

Survival Stage: Upsets and a Cinderella Story

The Survival Stage on July 14-15 was single-elimination best-of-three, with 12 teams fighting for the four remaining Playoff spots.

The biggest story was Rune Eaters. A roster assembled from relative unknowns, they had already caused a stir in Group A by drawing with both BetBoom Team and Xtreme Gaming. In the Survival Stage they knocked out Virtus.pro to continue their run.

On the Survival Stage's second day, the expected heavyweights mostly held on. BetBoom Team eliminated LGD Gaming to secure their playoff spot. Team Spirit sent Team Liquid home. The real upset came when Vici Gaming knocked out 1WIN Team, the former Tundra Esports roster that had been considered one of the tournament's stronger contenders. Aurora Gaming, meanwhile, was eliminated by Rune Eaters without winning a single map.

Playoffs: Vici Gaming Shocks Falcons, PARIVISION and BetBoom Advance

The Playoffs ran from July 16 to 19 in single-elimination best-of-three format, with the Grand final played as a best-of-five.

Quarterfinals delivered the biggest upset of the tournament. Vici Gaming, the team that had snuck through the Survival Stage after PlayTime's disqualification, knocked out Team Falcons 2-0. The Chinese squad forced ATF into an uncomfortable first professional match on Windranger in game one, then sent Slark mid against Falcons' Ember Spirit in game two to catch them completely off guard. A team many had written off ended Falcons' title run before the final four.

Elsewhere in the quarterfinals, PARIVISION dispatched Rune Eaters to end their Cinderella run, while BetBoom Team routed Nigma Galaxy despite Sumail's experimental Invoker carry failing to deliver for the Galaxy side. Team Yandex completed the semifinal lineup by eliminating Team Spirit, proving that the "dragons" were no match for a Yandex squad that had dropped only one map through the entire group stage.

The semifinals saw BetBoom Team sweep Vici Gaming convincingly, with the Chinese squad managing just three kills in game one and eight in game two. BetBoom mid laner Danil "gpk" Skutin recorded his 200th professional game without dying in the process. In the other semifinal, PARIVISION ended Team Yandex's 11-match winning streak in a 2-1 series, extending their own winning run to 12 consecutive victories heading into the grand final.

Team Yandex defeated Vici Gaming in the third-place match, with the second game concluding in just 18 minutes to become the shortest match of the entire tournament.

Grand Final: PARIVISION 3-1 BetBoom Team

BetBoom came out swinging. Matvey "MieRo" Vasyunin on Timbersaw and Ilja "Kiritych" Ulyanov on Clinkz steamrolled through game one, finishing 48 minutes later with a decisive win. MieRo posted nine kills and five assists. Kiritych added five kills and four assists to a single death. BetBoom drew first blood and were threatening to make the grand final a genuine contest.

Game two lasted over an hour and became the turning point of the series. Both teams fielded aggressive melee cores alongside a ranged carry and dual supports, but it was PARIVISION who pulled away from the 30-minute mark. Despite BetBoom scoring three early kills on carry Alan "Satanic" Gallyamov, No[o]ne eventually dominated the teamfights on Invoker and the game's momentum shifted decisively. PARIVISION ground BetBoom down across 62 minutes to level the series at 1-1. No[o]ne finished with 12 kills and 16 assists on three deaths. Satanic contributed 11 kills and 13 assists despite the early setbacks.

Games three and four were not close. PARIVISION swept through game three in 41 minutes with No[o]ne on Puck, tallying 10 kills and 13 assists while the team finished with double BetBoom's kill count. Game four was the most one-sided match of the series, a 29-7 kill lead in 36 minutes. Satanic on Lifestealer topped the scoreboard. No[o]ne on Pangolier recorded a game-best 15 assists. Support 9class on Keeper of the Light went a flawless five kills and 12 assists.

PARIVISION were champions.

What This Means for The International 2026

The EWC was the final Tier 1 tournament of the 2025-2026 Dota 2 season before The International 2026 in August, and PARIVISION arrive at TI as the clear favorites. This is their second Tier 1 title of the season, following their DreamLeague Season 29 win in May, and both trophies have come since Clement "Puppey" Ivanov joined the team as coach in January.

The coaching influence of one of Dota 2's most decorated players is written all over this run. The team's ability to stretch games when behind, adapt mid-series, and close out dominant games with minimal mistakes speaks to a level of structural preparation that goes beyond raw talent.

BetBoom Team head into TI as legitimate contenders after a strong EWC run. Team Yandex, despite their semifinal exit, showed throughout the tournament that they belong in the conversation. The Eastern European region enters August with three teams that can credibly challenge for the Aegis.

One storyline worth watching at TI: EWC MVP Evgeniy "Noticed" Ignatenko. The offlaner joined PARIVISION only recently and claimed the tournament's best player award at his first major LAN championship title. The Dota 2 scene will not be sleeping on him at TI.

If EWC 2026 taught the community anything, it is that PARIVISION are not just in form. They are in a different gear entirely.
