G2 are walking a tightrope at ESL Pro League Season 23, but their veto savvy and raw ceiling give them just enough over a dangerous FUT side.
The map veto will define this series. G2 will ban Nuke almost automatically, and FUT will respond by removing Inferno, a map they win just 20% of the time. The real battleground is Mirage, and it is a problem for G2. FUT are genuine specialists there with an 82% win rate across 44 maps, while G2 sit at a shaky 42%. G2 must do everything in their power to keep Mirage off the server, or this series unravels quickly.
If G2 navigate the veto cleanly, the series opens up. FUT's map pool vulnerabilities give G2 room to maneuver, and on neutral ground G2's individual quality should shine through. The likes of NiKo and huNter have the firepower to impose themselves when the setting suits them, and that difference in ceiling is meaningful in a close series.
Form is the lingering doubt. Back-to-back losses to Spirit and Aurora are hard to ignore, and G2 are clearly not at their sharpest right now. FUT arrive with genuine momentum and a 66% win rate over the last six months. But G2's overall pedigree in big moments remains their trump card, and that should be enough to edge a tight contest.
Verdict: G2 to win
