One of Dota 2's most celebrated players is now a free agent. Nigma Galaxy officially confirmed on March 1 that SumaiL, the Pakistani-American mid laner who lifted The International trophy in 2015 at just 16 years old, has parted ways with the organization after nearly three years. The split follows a catastrophic stretch of results that left Nigma Galaxy unable to qualify for five consecutive events across the dota 2 ongoing tournament circuit of the 2025-2026 season.

SumaiL joined Nigma Galaxy in May 2022, and his tenure with the organization was anything but straightforward. After an initial stint on the active roster, he spent time on loan with Team Aster in China before returning in December 2023. What followed was arguably the most successful chapter in Nigma Galaxy's history as an organization.

With stand-in mid laner Ghost stepping in for the sidelined Miracle-, SumaiL and the squad produced strong results throughout 2025, including a Top 4 finish at BLAST Slam II and a Top 8 at ESL One Raleigh 2025. The real milestone came when Nigma Galaxy qualified for The International 2025, marking the first time the organization had ever earned a spot at Dota 2's annual world championship. Against low expectations, they pushed through the Elimination Round with a reverse sweep over Aurora Gaming, reached the Playoffs upper bracket, and eventually bowed out in the lower bracket quarterfinals at the hands of eventual runners-up Xtreme Gaming. A 5th-6th place finish at TI was a result the team could be proud of.
The offseason that followed unraveled fast. GH stepped away from competitive play, Ghost departed, and replacements Tobi and TA2000 failed to stabilize the squad. Group stage exits piled up across DreamLeague Season 27 and PGL Wallachia Season 6. The failures carried into 2026, with the team missing qualification for upcoming dota 2 tournaments including BLAST Slam VI, DreamLeague Season 28, ESL One Birmingham 2026, FISSURE Universe: Episode 8, and PGL Wallachia Season 7, even with stand-in carry rincyq added to the lineup.

SumaiL's departure leaves Nigma Galaxy with just three signed players in No!ob, OmaR, and GH, alongside stand-in rincyq. The organization has yet to announce a replacement, though No!ob is expected to cover the mid lane role after spending his Nigma Galaxy career in the offlane, having been a mid laner throughout the rest of his career. The path forward for the organization looks uncertain at best.
For fans and analysts tracking player movements through a Dota 2 betting sites or prediction platform, SumaiL's free agency is one of the most significant storylines of the current offseason. At 27 years old, SumaiL remains one of the most technically gifted mid laners in professional Dota 2. His track record speaks for itself: a TI 2015 championship, a Guinness World Record as the youngest esports player to surpass $1 million in tournament winnings, and a 5th-6th place finish at TI 2025 just months ago. Any organization that signs him will immediately become a more interesting prospect heading into the next tier-one event cycle.
Whether SumaiL lands with an established contender or takes on a rebuild project, his presence in the professional scene carries weight. For Nigma Galaxy, the road ahead involves rebuilding from near-scratch after a season that moved from historic TI qualification to a near-complete qualification drought in the span of just a few months.

The Dota 2 community will be watching closely to see where one of the game's most iconic players ends up next.
